NEED AN ANGEL?
Ortho Angels are highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurses, with a minimum of 5 years post graduate operating theatre experience in orthopaedic nursing. Each Angel completes a stringent interview process, to ensure their skills are current and applicable to the current theatre requirements and surgical procedures and techniques.
What should I expect from my Ortho Angel?
- Each Angel holds current Australian Health Practitioners Registration (AHPRA)
- Peri Operative Post Graduate Qualifications (PGCert/PGDip)
- Membership with NSW OTA
- Membership to the Australian College of Operating Nurses (ACORN)
- Completes a minimum of 30 hours of Continuing Professional Development (CDP) per year
- Holds a current Hand Hygiene Australia certificate (HHA)
- Holds a current Advanced Life Support (ALS) certificate
- Attends relevant yearly conferences and workshops to ensure skill level
Skills and procedure knowledge (Not exhaustive)
- Hip and knee arthroplasty (Including anterior and posterior hips)
- Revision hip and knee arthroplasty
- Knee arthroscopes, ACL and MPFL reconstructions
- Shoulders replacements and reconstructions
- Hip arthroscopes and repairs
- Open reductions and internal fixatures (ORIF)
- Application of external fixatures
- Foot reconstructions and correction of deformities
- DHS’s and fractured neck of femurs.
